Your first visit made simple. Visiting a new dentist should feel straightforward.

You can schedule your appointment online or by telephone. If you ring us, our receptionist will discuss your needs with you and book you with the appropriate dentists. If you choose to book through our online portal, you can read about each of our dentists and decide who you would prefer to see.

Once you’ve scheduled your appointment, you’ll then be sent a confirmation email. One of our team members will ring you within a day to welcome you, describe your treatment and get your health fund information from you.

Your first visit

When you arrive for your first visit, our friendly team will greet you and ask you to complete a medical history form. To allow time for this, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

Your first appointment will take around 45 minutes. During this time, your dentist will introduce themselves and provide.

At Dentist WA Canning Vale all patients enjoy access to a dedicated treatment coordinator. All our treatment coordinators are trained dental nurses who can assist in preclinical enquiries and will help explain the process to you.

All discussions with our treatment coordinator are provided at no obligation or cost. Our team can explain various treatments, including dental implant treatment, orthodontics and cosmetic treatments. They can provide indicative pricing structures including payment plans where appropriate.

Dental history discussionDuring your appointment you will be greeted by your dentist, where all your concerns will be discussed carefully. Your dentist will run through your full history and get an understanding of your dental issues.

Oral examination and cleanA full oral examination will take place to assess your mouth, gums and teeth for any signs of concern.

X-rays (if required)

X-rays (if required)Your dentist may recommend taking x-rays of your teeth/mouth and may take some photographs and moulds of your teeth in some occasions where necessary.

Are You Feeling Nervous?

We understand that you may be feeling nervous or anxious about your first visit. Please let our friendly reception team know if you are feeling anxious about booking your appointment.

We offer several options to make you feel at ease during the appointment:

Cancellation and missed appointment policy
Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy

We do value your time and where appropriate schedule longer appointments to efficiently complete as much dental treatment as possible at one visit, thereby causing minimal disruption to your daily schedule. We encourage our patients only to make appointments that they know they will be able to keep.

For a missed appointment or cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice
  • Weekday cancellations- A $75 fee applies for the first 40 minutes, with an additional $25 for every 30 minutes thereafter.
    Example: A missed 1-hour appointment incurs a $100 fee.
  • Weekend Cancellations- For Saturday and Sunday appointments, a minimum $125 fee applies for the first 45 minutes, with an additional $25 for every 15 minutes thereafter.

All appointments are exclusive reservations. Your appointment time is thus set aside for you alone.

If our staff is successful in filling your appointment slot with another patient, there will be no broken appointment charge, please note this exemption excludes missed appointments where no notice is provided.

Dental Emergencies

Emergencies and unforeseen patient treatment problems may arise, causing practice schedule changes. Emergencies invariably arise at the most inconvenient times. If you have a dental emergency that needs immediate attention, we will always offer to see you at once. We expect that other patients who might be slightly inconvenienced by this will be understanding of the emergency situation. At some point, they may need the same courtesy too!

Cancelling Your Appointment

We understand that occasionally you may also have an unexpected need to rebook your appointment. We therefore ask that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot make your scheduled appointment, to allow us the opportunity to offer it to other patients.
