Due to the highly infectious nature of the COVID-19 Omicron variant and the current shortage of Rapid Antigen testing we ask that any patient with any cold/flu like symptoms defer non-emergency treatment for 10 days (post symptoms).
If you consider yourself to be having a genuine dental emergency and you are exhibiting these symptoms please contact the practice for further guidance or visit Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment.
Also a reminder that as of today, masks are once again required when entering the premises.
We recommend that any patients that consider themselves in a vulnerable group be booked for morning appointments where possible.

Update 2nd July 2021
From Midnight tonight we will return to pre-lockdown level 1 restrictions. This means you can attend all routine dental appointments as normal. Please note on a continued basis we will require patients entering the practice to sign in using the SafeWA app or complete the manual register. This is in addition to our hand sanitising, COVID triage and temperature check on arrival.

We have received advice overnight that Dentistry has been placed under level 4 restrictions. Dentist WA Canning Vale will reopen for treatments from 2pm Tuesday 29/06 that meet the criteria below. Update 28th June, 2021
Premier Mark McGowan has announced Perth will be in a 4 day lockdown from 12pm tonight. We are currently awaiting advice from the ADA and Health department on whether we can open this week for emergencies. We will hopefully have more clarity tomorrow morning.

Following the news from the National Cabinet and the Australian Dental Association of WA, we have moved to Level 1 restrictions for dentistry. This change means more Australians can get the treatment and care they need and get back to seeing their dentist for routine treatment and not just urgent treatment. This announcement gives dentists the ability to perform all dental treatments using standard precautions for people who do not meet epidemiological or clinical risks for COVID-19. We shall continue to observe and implement our additional, strict protocols and infection control procedures as a duty of care to our patients. We look forward to welcoming patients back to the Practice and seeing you all.

Premier Mark McGowan has announced Perth will be in a 3 day lockdown from 12pm tonight. Dentist WA will be moving to level 3 dental restrictions. Update 5th February, 2021
We have received confirmation this morning, that if Perth records a further day of ZERO community spread of COVID-19 cases, we will most likely be moved back to level 1 dental restrictions. This means from Saturday 06/02/2021 if no cases of community spread are recorded, dental procedures can continue as they were BEFORE the lock down period. We will confirm patients booked in over the next few days once we have final confirmation of this later today.
Update 31st January, 2021
Premier Mark McGowan has announced Perth will be in lockdown from 6pm this evening. Effective from 6pm this evening (January 31) until 6pm on Friday (February 5), dental services in the Perth metropolitan, Peel and South West Regions are to practise under Level 3 service restrictions as per the ADA Dental Service COVID-19 Restrictions. At this stage all routine and preventative dental treatment are being deferred until after the period of lock down. We will be open for most urgent and all emergency dental treatment during the lock down period. At Dentist WA Canning Vale the well being of our patients and staff is our top priority. As an QIP accredited dental practice we already adhere to the strictest infection control outside of a hospital environment. We’ve implemented the following additional measures as part of our ongoing efforts to lower risk to patients and staff –
- Introduced air purifiers into our waiting areas. These are ‘HEPA’ rated and are capable of reducing airborne virus and bacterial particles in addition to pollutants such as smoke and other volatile chemicals. These will be running 24 hrs a day for the foreseeable future.
- Strengthened our already stringent cleaning regime – all communal surfaces such as door handles, chairs, kid’s area and bathrooms are sanitised by our staff hourly.
- Social distancing measures introduced.
- Temporarily removed kids toys and magazines.
- Hand sanitiser stations throughout the surgery and Patients are asked to sanitise hands on arrival
- Patients are asked to wash their hands again in the rooms prior to treatment.
- Introduced a questionnaire to determine patients with interstate or overseas travel in the past 14 days, flu-like symptoms or close contact with high risk patients.
- Patients who meet these criteria are asked to reschedule for a minimum of 2 weeks.
- Temperature check for staff and patients before entering the building.
Level 1 Restrictions once again allow all dental treatments to be performed on patients who do not meet the criteria for COVID-19 infection transmission. Before your appointment:
- Please take your temperature at home before attending the practice. If your temperature is 37.5 Celsius or above, please call the practice to discuss or reschedule your appointment.
- Wash your hands with soap thoroughly.
- Call the practice if you have developed any flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing since we last checked in with you.
- Where possible we ask that you attend your appointment by yourself.
- When you arrive at the practice you can choose to check in as normal at reception or call the practice and stay in the car and call us. We may ask you to wait in your car to allow for social distancing requirements (currently 2m x 2m).
- If you are waiting in the car we will call you when the dentist is ready to bring you straight into the room.
